In Your Neighbourhood

Last weekend, I performed at Ulla’s House Salon hosted by Sasha Welsh and Laurie Berg, and the opening of the salon was UK artist, Yaron Lapid’s video installation. Two different images were projected onto two opposing walls. On one side, there were images of words on the wall and the other side it was the images of houses and cars. My friend Sangwook said that during his auto-biography class at college, students were discussing about “identity” and his professor said “During the period of Japanese Occupancy Koreans were forced to wear black and white color version of korean traditional clothings. It was Japan’s intention to “mute” the identity by muting colors of cultures and traditions of Korea.

Open Performance Registration begins November 4, 2009 at 9am.

Open Performance is a program of non-curated shared showings of experimentation and work-in-progress, for artists at all stages of their development. The events are centered around an audience discussion moderated by a Movement Research Artist-in-Residence or an occasional guest, where we will experiment with different feedback methods to support and inform the artists’ process.

sound in-between

I am in Stoninngton, CT for my friend Jennie’s residency here at Dragon’s Egg.

First thing I realized when I got into this beautifully isolated space was

that how much I can “hear” more and live in the sound I hear.

I was able to hear more, because I was able to freely make sound.

Freely let the sound happen.
