The Relational Body Project, Part Three (excerpt/work-in-progress)
Choreography: Vanessa Justice
Performers: Vanessa Justice, Lily Ockwell and Kendra Portier
Text: Verbatim from conversation overheard on the trains and sidewalks of NYC

The Relational Body Project is a series of works performed in close proximity to the audience that explores the body as a relational entity. (Part One occurred as a Studio Series at New York Live Arts, Part Two was a multi-channel video installed at The New Museum/auntsforcamera, Part Three will occur on NYC sidewalks and train platforms in summer/fall 2015, and Part Four will be a culminating, staged performance in 2017.)
(Please note: Vanessa is currently seeking advanced dancers okay with singing/vocalization and performing in pedestrian, public spaces. Please email her if interested. Also, please email Vanessa if you would like to receive notices about when/where her public interaction-performances will occur: justicedance@gmail.com.)

Movement Research Studies Project, “Dance and Labor”
Organized in dialogue with Movement Research, luciana achugar, Abigail Levine and Kathy Westwater.

Listen to the Podcast here:

How is dance labor valued? How has it been valued? How might it be? And how can we affect the value assigned to this labor? These questions were considered across a spectrum of contexts, including individual and institutional, organized and spontaneous, and historical and anecdotal to explore how performance and dance function within our current artistic, economic and labor realities.
