A special event by Movement Research Studies Project

This Studies Project, in partnership with La MaMa Moves! Dance Festival, will uncover lineages of improvisational practices. Curators Yvonne Meier and Ishmael Houston-Jones will instigate a discussion amongst pioneers of improvisation in dance, as well as contemporary artists who are practicing investigations within the larger context of improvisation. The event will also include dancing to a score developed by Yvonne Meier and Ishmael Houston-Jones.

Updates from Critical Correspodence

Hello all.

Critical Correspondence has three new interviews up and running. First off we have cast members Michelle Boulé and Tarek Halaby in conversation with Abby Crain. These Powerful People talk about their experience working with Miguel Gutierrez on his most recent work Last Meadow. There is an audio format interview where Walter Dundervill speaks with Jon Kinzel about Dundervill’s world premeire of Dear Emissary,… (which opened and closed this past weekend at The Chocolate Factory). Dundervill also speaks at detail about decorative arts, his past and present experience with art-making and how he got involved with dance.

And! Yasuko Yokoshi, Julie Alexander and Kayvon Pourazar in conversation with Beth Gill and Danielle Goldman. Read the interview before heading to Dance Theater Workshop this weekend to see Yokoshi’s world premeire of Tyler Tyler.
