Movement Research at the Judson Church – February 23, 2015

Featuring works by Tyler Eash, Tsveta Kasabova, Elke Luyten, and Antonio Ramos and the gang bangers

Glossolalia
Choreographed by Tyler Eash
Performers: Elizebeth Randall, Tyler Eash

Glossolalia: the language of the possession of the Holy Ghost.
Glossolalia combines pious grandiose imagery with opulent spectacle. Gestures of classical ballet and moments of operatic hymns are intersected with extant consciousness and contemporary clarity. Eash depicts the violence of Evangelical healing and the intimacy of baptisms as sensual and zealous moments of pleasure and prayer. Poetry, deconstructed ballet, contemporary dance, and voice translate rituals of the divine into contemporary performance.
