Join us after the Movement Research at the Judson Church program for a post-performance discussion with the artists, who include Ohio State University MFA candidate Maree ReMalia, Dance Ireland artist Philip Connaughton, and NYC-based artists Jon Kinzel (2009 Movement Research Artist-in-Residence) and Katy Pyle. Moderated by Deborah Jowitt.

The Movement Research Exchange (MRX) is a vehicle to spur interaction and exchange among independent choreographers and their peers from within and outside the US, MRX enables Artists-in-Residence and faculty to travel outside their home environment for residency activities, informal showings, discussions, and teaching opportunities.

How does power shift when dancers commission works from choreographers? This discussion will focus on the reasons for and ramifications of this kind of commissioning process, with a special focus on artistic concerns. Panelists include Jean Butler and Tere O’Connor, Marya Wethers and Daria Faïn, and Sonja Kostich and Brandi Norton of OtherShore. Moderated by Danielle Goldman.
