In collaboration with electronic musician Ellery Royston and dancer Meghan Schardt this dance piece explores replication and reflection through layers of virtual and live performance. The video presented is being explored as an ongoing project where we will continually add layers of Meghan and myself dancing in video projection in partnership with our live selves.

Bryon Carr holds an MFA in Performance and Interactive Media Arts and has trained, taught and performed throughout the U.S. and Europe. Website: Ellery Royston holds a B.A. in Electronic Music Composition, and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Computer Science from Mills College. She is currently working on an M.F.A. in Performance and Interactive Media Arts. Meghan Schardt received her BFA on scholarship at New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. She has performed with Miami Repertoire Ballet Company, Ballet Randolph, Freddick Bracher and Company, Jenn Frank and Company, Memento, Octavia Cup, Maryanne Chaney, Hawaii Ballet Theatre, Jennifer Simms and Giada Ferrone. niv Acosta is a brooklyn based artist born and raised in washington heights manhattan. niv is 24 years old, dominican and transgender. he trained at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance as an adolescent. niv attended california institute of the arts, briefly. niv has shown his work at various events/spaces including Pieter Performance Space in Los Angeles, The Community Education Center in Philadelphia, New York Live Arts through the Fresh Tracks Residency Program, through AUNTS in various spaces, The Tank, Danspace Project in Ralph Lemons “Marathon. The End.” event, The Meulensteen Gallery, and at Brooklyn Arts Exchange. he has/is worked/working on projects with Moving Theater, Larissa Velez-Jackson, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Hilary Clark, iele paloumpis, Phialdelphia Dance Projects, and Deborah Hay.

This is the start of a new process. It will go deeper and get turned on its head, and looked at through various lenses. But not just yet. It’s only the beginning – or rather, the end of where we just were.
The creation of [This is what we know (in-process title)] was supported, in part, through a commission from New York Live Arts’ Studio Series program with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
The project (or work) was made possible, in part, through The Movement Research Artist-in-Residence Program, funded, in part, by the Jerome Foundation and the Leonard and Sophie Davis Fund.

Tara O’Con’s work has been presented by Dance Theater Workshop (Fresh Tracks), Danspace Project, The Chocolate Factory Theater, and most recently as part of the River To River Festival produced by The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. She is looking forward to further developing this work during her time as a Movement Research Artist-In-Residence, and this spring as part of the New York Live Arts Studio Series Program (showing May 3rd and 4th).

Emma Fitzgerald and celebrity choreographer Áine Stapleton certainly make a fashionable pair, but the dynamic duo are turning their eclectic tastes down a theatrical route with an exposed creative dialogue for tonight’s Movement Research at the Judson Church. They now begin the tedious and monumental task of isolating these elements so that their choreographic properties can be determined.
