James McGinn was born and raised in Sarasota, FL and graduated from Eugene Lang College, the New School for Liberal Arts. He has been a part of the American Dance Festival community for the past nine years and has enjoyed

 performing in the work of John Jasperse, Miguel Gutierrez, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Wally Cardona, Jen McGinn, Tatiana Baganova, & Trisha Brown, among others. In the summer of ‘07, James was in residence at The Yard, on Martha’s Vineyard for Patricia N. Nanon’s final residency. He has taught and presented work along the east coast and is a founding member of The Presidents, a dance band.

Jon Kinzel is currently creating a new piece to premiere at The Kitchen in January 2010. He is a 2009 Movement Research Artist-in-Residence and one of two awarded a Martha Duffy Memorial Fellowship at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (2009-10). He is a NYC based choreographer who straddles both traditional and contemporary practices of dance making that takes cues from performance, conceptual and identity-based art. He began presenting his own work in 1988 in multiple disciplines, and gained national and international exposure with the production of over 30 pieces, numerous commissions, residencies and solo shows. He has a BA in Dance from Bennington College and recently earned a MFA in Dance from Sarah Lawrence College. Along with his own work as a dancer and choreographer, he has had the good fortune to collaborate with many troupes and talented individual dancers, as well as other artists and composers such as Matthew Barney, Michael Whaites, John Kelly, John Jasperse, Rachid Ouramdane, Jeremy Nelson, Susan Braham, Jonathan Bepler, K.J. Holmes, Yoshiko Chuma, Sarah Michaelson, Stephen Craig, Vivian Stoll, Jeanine Durning, Cydney Wilkes, Creach/Koester, Susan Sgorboti, William Catanzaro, Roy Kortick, Keith Thompson, Shelly Mars, Lance Greis, Nina Katan, Neil Goldberg and Bob Ajar. Importantly, he has begun to exhibit his own flat art/works on paper most recently at a Human Rights Campaign event in Boston and in, Real Compared To What, at Gallery One Twenty-Eight, NYC. Jeremy Pheiffer recently received his B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. He has danced as a member of Ashley Byler’s Champions of Dance. He is currently dancing for Jon Kinzel and Meghan McCoy. Jeremy is a founding member and choreographer for jerk -i- Lan- a.

Renée Archibald grew up in Maryland, graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts, and lives in Brooklyn. She is very honored to be a 2009 Movement Research Artist-in-Residence and to work with these ladies. Her previous works have been shown in DTW’s Fresh Tracks series, at The Chocolate Factory, at Abron’s Art Center through Sugar Salon and other NYC venues. Renée is also a member of the ridiculously fun “Sexcamaids,” who won “best marching group” at the Coney Island Mermaid Parade this past summer and will grace 6th Ave with their moves on Halloween. She is currently working on a piece as part of Dance & Process at the Kitchen.
