Who is a dance?
In this evening’s discussion we will come together to re-contextualize the “authorship question” within the context of contemporary dance. In an art form that is historically simultaneously ephemeral, embodied, and perceived and produced by a plurality of bodies, how and by whom is subjectivity and authorship performed, and towards what ends? Of the work we see and make today, might the question to ask be not “What is an Author?” but rather “Who is a dance?”
